Local Listings Beyond Google: Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp and Nextdoor

Google gets most local searches, but iPhone users see Apple Maps, Windows and Copilot users see Bing, and neighbors recommend businesses on Nextdoor.

Your Google Business Profile isn’t the only listing that matters. Apple Maps powers place cards across iPhone apps, Bing Places feeds Bing search and Bing Maps, and Yelp and Nextdoor are where many US customers check reviews and ask neighbors.

Each listing is free to claim. The work is mostly one-time setup and then keeping details consistent.

Short answer: Claim your business on Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Connect) to manage your Apple Maps place card, on Bing Places for Business (now at bing.com/forbusiness, with import from Google), and on Yelp and Nextdoor. Use the same real business name, address or service area, phone, hours and categories everywhere, add real photos, and follow each platform’s own review rules, which differ from Google’s.

Key Takeaways

  • Apple Business replaced Apple Business Connect in April 2026.
  • Bing Places can import your Google listing.
  • Yelp and Nextdoor have their own review and recommendation rules.
  • Consistency of name, address, phone and hours matters everywhere.
  • These listings support, not replace, your Google profile.

Apple Maps: Apple Business

Apple announced Apple Business in March 2026 and launched it on April 14, 2026, combining Apple Business Connect with Apple’s device management products. Existing Business Connect data, including claimed locations and place card information, migrated automatically. It’s free.

  • Claim your location and verify the business.
  • Complete the place card: photos, hours, location details, brand name and logo. Apple says place cards appear across Apple Maps, Safari, Spotlight and more.
  • Use Showcases to highlight offers or seasonal products, and add actions such as order or reserve that link to your site.
  • Review location insights: searches, views and taps on actions in Maps.
  • Apple announced ads in Apple Maps search results for the US and Canada from summer 2026; claiming your location is a prerequisite.

Bing Places for Business

Microsoft relaunched Bing Places in October 2025 inside Bing.com at bing.com/forbusiness, migrating existing listings automatically. Listings appear in Bing search and Bing Maps.

  • Use the Google import to bring across name, hours and contact details, then check every field.
  • Act on the Recommendation Tool’s suggestions, such as photos, website and hours.
  • Multi-location businesses can use bulk editing.
  • Pair it with Bing Webmaster Tools for your website (Bing Webmaster Tools).

Yelp

  • Claim your free Yelp business page and complete categories, hours, photos and service area.
  • Read Yelp’s own guidelines before asking customers for reviews; its rules on soliciting reviews differ from Google’s.
  • Respond to reviews professionally, as you would on Google.
  • Paid Yelp ads are separate from your free listing; buying ads doesn’t change review rules.

Nextdoor

Nextdoor offers a free Business Page and free Business Posts shown in neighborhood feeds, with a radius or neighborhoods you choose. Customers can recommend your business. Claim it at nextdoor.com/create-business; you must be an owner, employee or authorized representative.

Keep a simple tracker of each listing’s login, owner and last check. See citations and local links for the wider citation picture.
