What is Local SEO?

Local Search, Done Properly

Local SEO improves your visibility for searches with local intent — like “plumber near me” or “dentist in Austin”. Google’s local results are shaped mainly by relevance, distance and prominence.

We focus on what you can influence: an accurate, complete Business Profile, relevant website content, consistent citations and a steady flow of genuine reviews.

How Google decides local results

Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You can’t change how far a searcher is from your business, so Local SEO focuses on relevance (accurate categories, services and content) and prominence (reviews, links, mentions and a well-known brand).

That framing comes from Google Business Profile Help’s explanation of how Google determines local ranking. It also explains why no provider can guarantee a map-pack position: distance from the searcher changes with every search.

What a Local SEO engagement includes

AreaWorkPolicy note
Google Business ProfilePrimary and secondary categories, services, hours, attributes, photos, postsBusiness name must match real-world branding — no added keywords
WebsiteLocation and service pages with real local substance, consistent contact detailsNo doorway pages that only swap city names
CitationsConsistent name, address and phone across important directoriesOnly real addresses; service-area businesses hide their address
ReviewsA simple process to ask real customers and respond to reviewsNo incentives or fake reviews
MeasurementCalls, direction requests, website clicks, local rankings for key servicesResults vary by searcher location

All profile work follows Google’s guidelines for representing your business. Breaking them — fake addresses, keyword-stuffed names, purchased reviews — risks suspension and isn’t something we do.

How results are assessed

We use Google Business Profile performance data (calls, direction requests, website clicks), Search Console data for local landing pages and, where useful, rank checks from several points across your service area — because rankings differ from one street to the next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions.

Why Local SEO and not GEO?

Many people now use GEO to mean Generative Engine Optimization (visibility in AI answers). To avoid confusion, we call geographic search visibility Local SEO.

Can you get my business into the map pack?

We improve the factors you control, but Google decides what appears, and the searcher’s distance plays a large part. We don’t guarantee placement.

Do I need a page for every city?

Only where you genuinely serve that area and have something specific to say. Mass-produced city pages can be treated as doorway pages.

Can you help with a suspended Business Profile?

We can review it against Google’s guidelines and help prepare a reinstatement request; the decision is Google’s.

How do you handle reviews?

We help you set up a simple, policy-compliant process to ask real customers. We never buy or fake reviews.
