Why Merchant Center matters

Your Products Can’t Show Until Google Trusts the Data

Google Merchant Center is where you send product information so items can appear in free listings across Google and in Shopping ads.

When the website, the product data or the business information doesn’t meet Google’s policies and specifications, products are disapproved or the account is warned or suspended. Fixing that is mostly careful, evidence-based work on your store — not a trick in the account.

What we check

Common Causes We Investigate

Most issues trace back to a handful of website and data problems.

  • Contact information that’s missing, hard to find or inconsistent with the account
  • Return and refund policy that’s unclear or missing
  • Prices or availability that differ between the feed and the landing page
  • Missing or invalid product identifiers (GTIN, brand, MPN)
  • Checkout problems or missing conventional payment methods
  • Shipping costs or delivery times that aren’t disclosed clearly

What we will never do

  • Guarantee approval or reinstatement
  • Create new accounts to get around a suspension
  • Hide or misstate business details
  • Advise repeated review requests without real fixes

How Merchant Center issues actually get resolved

Most disapprovals, warnings and suspensions are resolved by fixing the underlying problem on the website or in the product data and then requesting a review. Google reviews the account, which can take up to seven business days, and makes the final decision. No agency can guarantee approval or reinstatement.

Account warnings, suspensions and product disapprovals are different

SituationWhat it meansWhat to do first
Product disapprovedSpecific items can’t show because of a data, landing page or policy issueOpen the item’s issue details, fix the cause, request a website check or review
Account warningGoogle has found a policy issue; for some policies a warning comes at least 7 days before suspensionFix all issues during the warning period; one courtesy review is available
Account suspendedProducts can’t show until the issue is resolvedFix everything first, complete any identity verification, then request review
Egregious violation (e.g. unacceptable business practices)Suspension without prior warning; reinstatement only in compelling circumstancesOnly appeal if you’re certain the finding is wrong; be thorough and honest

Misrepresentation

Google’s misrepresentation policy covers listings or websites that hide relevant information or present the business or products inaccurately. Examples in the policy include false or missing contact details, hiding where the business is located or where products ship from, not disclosing the full price including shipping and fees, and unclear return or refund terms. Because Google can review information from your website, accounts and third-party sources, the fix is usually a genuine transparency audit of the whole store — not a single edit.

Website requirements Google lists

  • Contact information that’s clearly available (for example a contact form, email address or phone number).
  • A clear return and refund policy — even if you don’t accept returns, Google asks you to state that explicitly.
  • At least one conventional payment method at checkout, and a checkout that works end to end.
  • Clear disclosure of all conditions, the payment model and the full cost before and after purchase.
  • Products available for direct purchase on your site, in a language Merchant Center supports and matching your product data.

These come from Google’s Merchant Center guidelines, which also note you need to sign in at least once every 14 months to keep the account active.

Requesting a review — and why timing matters

According to Google’s review documentation, you choose either “I fixed the issue” or “I disagree with the issue” before requesting a review, and some accounts must complete identity verification first. Reviews can take up to seven business days. You may only have one chance to disagree, and if issues aren’t resolved by the second review attempt, a cool-down period of about a week may begin — Google support can’t shorten it, and it can increase after further unsuccessful reviews. That is why we fix and document everything before any request is made.

Product data: the other half of the work

Many product-level issues come from differences between your product data and your landing pages — a price that changes after a discount is applied, stock that isn’t updated, or identifiers that are missing for branded products. We check your data against Google’s product data specification and correct the source on the website or in the platform integration, so the issue doesn’t return with the next feed update.

How results are assessed

We track the number of approved, limited and disapproved items, open account issues and their status, and — once products are eligible — free-listing and Shopping clicks in Merchant Center reporting. We report the review outcome as Google communicates it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions.

Can you guarantee my Merchant Center account will be reinstated?

No. Google makes the final decision. We can identify likely causes, help you fix them and prepare a well-documented review request.

How long does a Merchant Center review take?

Google says reviews can take up to seven business days. Approved products can become eligible to show within about 24 hours after approval.

Should I open a new Merchant Center account if mine is suspended?

No. Creating new accounts to get around a suspension can break Google’s policies and make things worse. Fix the underlying issues and request a review.

Why do I keep getting a misrepresentation suspension?

Usually because the website still lacks clear, consistent business information, policies or pricing transparency, or because the review was requested before everything was fixed.

What’s the difference between free listings and Shopping ads?

Free listings let eligible products appear across Google surfaces without paying per click. Shopping ads are paid placements managed in Google Ads. Both use product data from Merchant Center.

Do you work with Shopify and WooCommerce stores?

Yes. Many Merchant Center issues start in the store platform or its Google integration, so we work across the store and the account together.
